Diane Obomsawin illustrates the 8th edition of Spotlight on Art

Unique multimedia works
Indigenous artist Diane Obomsawin and her digital works illustrate the luminous exhibition for the 8th edition (2021-2022). Of Abenaki descent, she is also known by the pen name Obom and for her eclectic body of work. She has distinguished herself as a comic book author, animation filmmaker, illustrator, and visual artist.
The Museum team offered her the choice of using her previous works, creating new ones from scratch, or using archival photos from BAnQ to create them.
Diane Obomsawin chose this third option to create a dialogue between the characters in the photographs and her animated characters. This approach results in unique multimedia works. It is a universe that blends archives, history, mathematics, and drawing.

Through her works, she invites the visitor to interact with the lampposts. Some require a walk around them to discover all the details.
The enhanced labels offer an immersive experience in the artist's works. Each QR code and NFC chip links to a page on the MySmartJourney platform. Deployed within the page, quizzes invite visitors to guess the subject of a photo.
Complementary works by the artist are added to better understand the lampshades' visuals. GIFs allow visitors to see the short films created specifically for the project in motion.
